Jayson Uribe’s maiden Moto2 season goes from strength to strength, the Californian youngster impressing in yesterday’s two FIM CEV Repsol races to finish 7th and 11th at the Catalunya Circuit near Barcelona, continuing the trend of scoring points in every race of 2016 – in fact Uribe is the only rider in the ultra competitive series to achieve this!
Qualifying on the 5th row of the grid after a small spill during final qualifying Jayson made a great start completing the opening lap in 9th before racing hard and resisting immense pressure from a gaggle of riders to finish the opening 17 lap encounter just outside of the top 6, much to the delight of his AGR team.
Race two held in hotter conditions a couple of hours later was equally as rewarding with Uribe once again quick off the line and in the hunt from start to finish for another top ten finish in his debut Moto2 season. 11th at the flag in yesterday’s second encounter moves Jayson to equal 9th overall in the overall championship and to within 8 points from 6th.
Jayson Uribe: “I had a fantastic weekend at the Circuit De Barcelona for round 3 of the FIM CEV Repsol Moto2 European Championship. I learned a great deal on how to ride the Kalex machine in hot conditions and had a lot of fun in both races. The weekend had a slight bump in the road as I crashed and injured my hand in qualifying 2 but I still qualified 14th and was able to race both 17 lap races without too much of a problem. I’m very thankful once again for the work that Team AGR did for me this weekend. We had fantastic results and I’m looking forward to improving at the next round in Albacete!”
The next round of the championship takes the patriot pub to Albacete on 3rd July where #36 will be looking to add yet more points to his 2016 tally.
