Chinese teenager Hunter Su signed off from his Copa 250cc Honda Championship season with 11th & 12th positions in the final two races of the year, underlining the huge step forward by the Team China rider since the opening round several months ago. Riding less than a week after a pre-race 2 crash at Albacete saw him nursing injuries, Su was on electric form throughout, qualifying an impressive tenth before racing race long in both encounters to secure his best results of the year, a perfect way to raise his confidence for his upcoming Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup trial.

Su, who was the only non-Spanish rider to contest the Copa 250cc Honda series will announce his 2016 plans in due course and asks those following him to stay tuned for news via his new interactive website: www.hunter-su.com

Hunter Su – Team China: “The last round at Circuit Calafat was brilliant in many ways, but mostly because for the second event in a row I showed I have a strong pace. It’s the first road racing championship that I’ve ever finished in my life. It’s been a great learning year and I’m really proud of myself pushing hard for the whole year. I was riding super smooth and super relaxed in qualifyin. I had a lot of fun working on my own pace and skills, qualifying 10th position. Race 1 I was battling with 2 other riders, we were running similar lap times and at some points on the track I was little faster. The battle was intense, but always they block-passed me and it was hard for me to reclaim the position because of the lack of race experience. Eventually I made a small gap but unfortunately I made a mistake in one corner and lost positions but still finished 11th. Race 2. I had a great start and tried as hard as possible to get to the front. I tried to be smart, and after a race long battle had a little bit of draft towards the line but wasn’t able to pass the group I was fighting with and ended 12th, having learned a lot. All in all it was a great weekend and a great way to end a great season. Thanks to my whole team, they did a great job and thanks to all my supporters. I am off to Sepang now to try out for the SAATC, which I am truly excited for.”
