Fabio Menghi will start the final World Supersport race of 2014 from the 7th row, after powering his VFT Racing Yamaha to 21st on the grid in the sole qualifying session at the Losail International Circuit.
The event, the first ever under floodlights in the championships history will be a challenge for the Italian who has once again suffered the problems which have plagued him during the second half of the season.
Despite the frustration, Fabio and the team continue to remain positive, buoyed by their excellent finishes in Imola and Phillip Island, 6th and 9th at the respective venues.
Tomorrow’s race, which will also take place under floodlights will begin at 2015 local time.
Fabio Menghi – “Once again I feel like I am repeating myself but the same problems just keep happening. I know that given the correct circumstances we can fight much closer to the front, we have shown this already but it seems that the final race of our season will also be tougher than we had hoped. I want to give 100% tomorrow and I hope that we can at least score some points. At least I can say after qualifying that the bike is better than it has been for a long time, it’s down to me now”
Qualifiche difficili per Menghi in Qatar
Fabio Menghi partirà dalla 7° fila l’ultima gara del Supersport World Championship, dopo aver portato la Yamaha del Team VFT Racing in 21° posizione in griglia sul tracciato di Losail.
L’evento, il primo nella storia del campionato a corrersi in notturna sotto la luce dei riflettori, sarà una vera sfida per l’italiano, che continua a patire gli stessi problemi che lo attanagliano dalla seconda metà di stagione.
Malgrado la delusione, Fabio ed il team sono ancora positivi, stimolati dalla bella prestazione di Imola e Phillip Island – con Fabio rispettivamente 6° e 9° sul traguardo.
La gara di domani, anch’essa prevista sotto la luce dei riflettori, è prevista per le 20:15 ore locali.
Fabio Menghi – “Ancora una volta mi sembra di rivivere gli stessi problemi di sempre. So che, con le giuste circostanze, possiamo combattere con le prime posizioni e lo abbiamo già dimostrato, ma sembra che anche l’ultima gara del Campionato sarà più dura di quanto avessimo sperato. Voglio dare il massimo domani e spero che potremo almeno concludere in zona punti. Devo dire che nelle fasi di qualifica la moto si è dimostrata la migliore, come non lo era da lungo tempo. Adesso tocca a me.”
