The final race of the FIM Europe Superstock 600cc Championship in France on Saturday was like all of the previous 2014 encounters, fast and furious.
Such is the nature of the Magny-Cours circuit on the outskirts of Nevers that it’s not uncommon to have a tightly bunched field fighting for the entire race.
For Christopher Gobbi, Stefano Casalotti and Paolo Giacomini the race was full of action with all three showing flashes of speed throughout the weekend.
As the final chequered flag of the year was waved, the results may not have been worth shouting about but reflecting in the paddock after the race the mood was positive as all 3 riders looked back with their VFT Racing Yamaha team over a 2014 season that had allowed them all to improve and develop.
Paolo Giacomini – “What an experience. The level in the STK600 is very high and it’s made me faster by racing in this category. I came close to scoring championship points more than once and went faster with every session which was the goal. Thank you to VFT Racing for allowing me to make my debut season within the WSBK paddock with them and thanks to all my sponsors. I hope to be back in 2015”
Christopher Gobbi – “The race this weekend didn’t go to plan but I was running in the points before I crashed. Looking back through my results there are a lot of high points, scoring my first championship points for example and then scoring again as well as qualifying much better as the season went on. Thanks to all my supporters and to everyone at VFT Racing. Hope to see you all in 2015.”
Stefano Casalotti – “The highlight of the year for me was the podium. I think we showed in that race that when everything comes together the VFT Racing Yamaha is more than capable. For sure I made some mistakes and missed some opportunities to fight at the front more regularly but I’m happy with the step forward. Of course I wanted to fight for the title but sometimes in racing things don’t work out. Anyway I want to say a big thank you to all my team, all my sponsors and I’ll come back stronger next year.”

L’ultima gara del FIM Europe Superstock 600 Championship, corso Sabato in Francia, è stato come gli tutti i precedenti round della stagione: combattuto e ricco d’azione, complice anche la natura del circuito di Mangy Cours, dove non è raro vedere bagarre in gruppetti ravvicinati per l’intera gara.
Per Christopher Gobbi, Stefano Casalotti e Paolo Giacomini la gara è stata ricca d’azione, con i tre piloti che hanno mostrato sprazzi di velocità per tutto il fine settimana.
Quando l’ultima bandiera a scacchi della stagione è stata sventolata, il risultato non sarà stato propriamente quello che i piloti meritavano, ma il morale dei piloti del VFT Racing Yamaha dopo la gara era davvero positivo, proprio in virtù dei tanti progressi compiuti durante questa stagione 2014.
Paolo Giacomini – “Che esperienza. Il livello nella STK600 è molto alto e mi ha portato ad essere ancora più veloce. Sono arrivato vicino a conquistare i primi punti stagionali più d’una volta e sono migliorato sessione dopo sessione. Grazie al VFT Racing per avermi permesso di debuttare questa stagione nel Paddock della Superbike. Ringrazio anche tutti i miei sponsor. Spero di tornare in sella per il 2015.”
Christopher Gobbi – “La gara questo fine settimana non è andata secondi i piani ma se non altro stavo combattendo nella zona punti prima di cadere. Guardando dietro ai miei risultati ci sono parecchi aspetti positivi, come l’aver guadagnato il mio primo punto per esempio, e l’essermi qualificato sempre meglio con il proseguire della stagione. Grazie a tutti i miei supporter e a tutti i componenti del VFT Racing. Spero di vedervi tutti nel 2015.”
Stefano Casalotti – “Il punto più alto che ho raggiunto in questa stagione è stato senz’altro il podio. Penso che abbiamo dimostrato in quella gara che quando le cose vanno bene il VFT Racing Yamaha è più che competitivo. Di certo ho fatto qualche errore e ho perso l’opportunità di combattere con i primi con più regolarità , ma sono felice dei passi in avanti che abbiamo fatto. Sicuramente ho cercato di giocarmi il titolo ma certe volte nelle corse non tutto funziona. Ad ogni modo, voglio dire un grazie speciale a tutto il mio team, i miei sponsor e ribadire che tornerò ancora più forte il prossimo anno.”
Il VFT Racing Team rivelerà i propri piani per la stagione 2015 a tempo debito.
