In treacherous conditions, Team Hero EBR notched up another race finish with Geoff May finishing inside the top twenty at Magny-Cours in France earlier today.
Geoff, who tipped off his 1190RX machine in the equally wet warm up session, started the races in Pit Lane because of an engine penalty but was soon circulating inside the top 20. He finished 18th in race one but retired along with his team mate Aaron Yates in the latter encounter.
Aaron also retired in race one.
Both riders were satisfied with their progress during the weekend and are pleased with the steps forward made in the dry with their set-up.
The final races of the season will take place at the Losail circuit in Qatar for the first ever night races in World Superbike history and Team Hero EBR will be hoping to end their season on a high.
Giulio Bardi – Team Manager: “Despite the failure to finish of both riders in the second race the weekend hasn’t been so bad and there have been some improvements that we can see when we look at the data. For Geoff it was always going to be difficult starting from the pit-lane but he dug deep and we applaud his efforts. Both riders said they felt something with their machines in race two so we took the decision to stop. We will keep working hard and are looking forward to racing in the dark in Qatar.”
Positivo il Team Hero EBR in Francia malgrado il risultato
In condizioni decisamente insidiose, il Team Hero EBR ha conquistato un altra traguardo in top 20 nella prima delle due gare previste dal round francese di Magny Cours.
Geoff, che ha perso il controllo della sua EBR 1190RX durante l’altrettanto difficile sessione mattutina del Warm Up, ha cominciato la sua gara dalla Pit Lane, a causa della penalizzazione per aver punzonato più motori di quelli previsti dal regolamento. Il pilota americano è riuscito ad ogni modo a posizionarsi da subito nella top 20 della gara, andando a transitare sul traguardo in 18° posizione, mentre il compagno di squadra Yates non è riuscito a terminare la corsa.
In gara due, purtroppo, sia Yates che May sono stati costretti al ritiro.
Entrambi i piloti sono abbastanza soddisfatti dei progressi che hanno fatto durante il fine settimana, sia in condizioni di asciutto che di bagnato. L’ultima gara del Mondiale Superbike prenderà via dal circuito di Losail, in Qatar, per quella che sarà la prima gara serale nella storia della Superbike, ed il Team Hero EBR resta fiducioso di poter terminare positivamente la stagione agonistica.
Giulio Bardi – Team Manager: “Malgrado i piloti non siano riusciti a terminare la seconda manche di gara, il weekend non è stato poi così negativo; abbiamo anzi fatto dei buoni passi in avanti, come ci dimostrano i dati che abbiamo raccolto. Per Geoff è sempre molto complicato gestire la gara partendo dalla pit-lane ma è riuscito a dare il meglio e noi gli siamo grati di questo sforzo. Entrambi i piloti ci hanno comunicato che qualcosa non andava nella moto in Gara 2 e così abbiamo preso la decisione di fermarli. Continueremo a lavorare sodo e aspettiamo di poter correre la nostra gara serale in Qatar.”
