After their most encouraging weekend of the season so far last time out at Laguna Seca, Team Hero EBR returned to WorldSuperbike duty at a sunny Jerez with renewed optimism, narrowly missing out on a provisional Superpole qualifying position in the process after the opening day of on track action.
Both Geoff and Aaron looked comfortable immediately and with no technical glitches across the two sessions were able to make strides forward each time they went out on track.
Geoff currently sits 21st in the combined classification and within half a second of that all- important 20th position which would guarantee a start in Superpole 1 tomorrow afternoon. For Aaron, there a few tweaks to make overnight which should see both of the 1190RX machines achieving strong grid positions ahead of Sunday’s two 20 lap races.
Geoff May: “Jerez is definitely my favourite track and I really enjoyed riding my EBR 1190RX here. Today I had a good feeling with the bike and the track and I feel confident for a good position on the starting grid tomorrow.”
Aaron Yates: “I had two good sessions and I worked hard with my mechanics in order to find the best setup. Tonight we will make some adjustments and I hope that tomorrow we will close the gap to the top 20 even more.”
Il Team Hero EBR fa un passo in avanti sul circuito spagnolo di Jerez
Dopo l’incoraggiante prestazione sul circuito di Laguna Seca, in America, il Team Hero EBR è tornato in pista con rinnovato ottimismo in occasione del round spagnolo del World SBK Championship, al via da questa mattina sul tracciato di Jerez.
Entrambi i piloti del Team Hero EBR sono parsi a proprio agio tra i cordoli del tracciato andaluso e, grazie alla totale assenza di problemi tecnici, entrambi i piloti sono riusciti a compiere dei sostanziali passi in avanti ad ogni uscita in pista, con Geoff May che ha sfiorato per un soffio la superpole provvisoria
Al momento, Geoff si trova in 21° posizione in classifica combinata tra FP1 ed FP2, a solo mezzo secondo dalla 20° posizione che gli garantirebbe l’ingresso in Superpole 1 domani pomeriggio.
Per Aaron resta ancora qualche piccola modifica da apportare alla propria moto che dovrebbe garantire una solida posizione in griglia in occasione delle qualifiche di domani.
Geoff May: “Jerez è diventato il circuito che più preferisco tra quelli del mondiale e mi sono divertito molto a guidare qui la mia EBR 1190RX. Oggi ho sentito da subito un buon feeling con moto e tracciato e sono fiducioso che domani riusciremo ad agguantare una buona posizione in griglia di partenza.”
Aaron Yates: “Oggi ho corso due buone manche di qualifica e, insieme ai miei meccanici, abbiamo lavorato sodo sulla moto, sempre alla ricerca del miglior setup. Sfrutteremo la notte per apportare ulteriori migliorie alla moto in modo da accorciare il gap che ci separa dalla top 20.”
