Italy’s Fabio Menghi managed only four flying laps in the sole 45 qualifying session in the heat and humidty of the Sepang circuit, qualifying 19th ahead of tomorrow’s 14 lap race.
Having put in over 33 laps of the 5.4km circuit on the opening, the VFT Yamaha rider made a few final tweaks to his Yamaha machine and was hopeful of further improvement when it counted but after small sensor problem, the Italian was sidelined, resulting in a row 7 start.
Fabio Menghi – 19th on the grid: “Yesterday we had a problem. I picked up a bolt or something on track and it stuck in the tyre which deflated it and I only made a few laps. This morning we changed the suspension but I had small electronic issue. I’m sure I’ve broken another sensor. I’m not happy because Yamaha don’t help me or my team and therefore it’s difficult to make a good setting. So before the race we have no clear direction with the bike and I was only able to ride 4 flying laps in qualifying. Nevertheless, tomorrow if we don’t have any problems I’m sure we can make a good race.”
Alcuni problemi costringono Menghi alla 19° posizione in griglia
L’italiano Fabio Menghi ha potuto correre solo quattro giri durante i 45 minuti di qualifiche di oggi, corse sul circuito di Sepang in condizioni di caldo e grande umidità, qualificandosi 19° per la gara di domani.
Con soli 33 giri corsi lungo i 5.4 km del circuito malese, il pilota del team VFT Yamaha ha apportato alcune modifiche alla sua moto sperando in ulteriori miglioramenti. Purtroppo un problema tecnico ha relegato il pilota italiano nelle retrovie in 7° fila in griglia di partenza.
Fabio Menghi: “ieri abbiamo avuto un problema. Ho preso un bullone o qualcosa del genere in pista e ho avuto problemi al pneumatico posteriore, così ho fatto solo pochi giri. Questa mattina abbiamo cambiato le sospensioni ma purtroppo siamo incorsi in un problema elettronico alla moto. Immagino di aver rotto un sensore. Sono dispiaciuto perché la Yamaha non aiuta me ed il mio team e quindi è difficile trovare un buon setting. Così a breve tempo dalla gara, ci ritroviamo senza una chiara direzione ed oggi ho potuto correre solo 4 giri in qualifica. Tuttavia, se domani non avremo ulteriori problemi, sono sicuro di poter correre una bella gara.”
