American riders Aaron Yates and Geoff May are ready for tomorrow’s two 21 lap races at the Assen circuit after qualifying their Team Hero EBR 1190RX machines in 26th and 27th respectively.
After the overnight studying of data, and a few minor tweaks both riders were able to lap considerably faster than on the opening day, with both riders finding more than 0.7s in the morning’s thankfully dry third free practice session.
With only the top 20 from the combined free practice classification making it into the Tissot-Superpole sessions, Aaron and Geoff have a few more ideas of things to try in the warm up session tomorrow, and with the added threat of rain falling at the time of the opening race both riders are prepared to give it their all on the ever improving EBR 1190RX machines.
Aaron Yates: “We had a solid day with a couple more dry sessions which was useful. I made some advancement with the suspension and the EBR1190RX is steering easier. I haven’t ridden in the rain so tomorrow may give us the chance to find out if it’s wet. Everyone is working hard and I feel we are the getting most that we can out of the bike right now. We will keep working.”
Geoff May: “We had some issues in last session but matched our time from FP3. We need to keep going in the direction we are going because the bike is starting to suit me. If it stays dry tomorrow I feel that I can battle with some guys and crack the top 20. I wish we were are where we are now on a Friday as I feel if we could we could be battling for points. We are always playing catch up but we will keep chipping away. Now I can push things can only get better.”
Yates e May pronti per la gara
I piloti americani Aaron Yates e Geoff May sono pronti ad affrontare i 21 giri della corsa di Assen, dopo essersi qualificati rispettivamente in 26° e 27° posizione.
Dopo aver analizzato i dati durante la notte ed aver apportato qualche piccola modifica alla EBR 1190 RX, entrambi i rider sono stati in grado in girare considerevolmente più veloci rispetto alla sessione di apertura, con entrambi i piloti che hanno migliorato di circa 0,7 sec durante le prove del mattino.
Dopo le varie sessioni di qualifica, Aaron Yates e Geoff May hanno in mente ancora qualche piccola modifica da apportare alla propria EBR 1190 RX in vista del Warm Up di domani. E, con la pioggia che minaccia di manifestarsi durante la prima delle due manche, entrambi gli americani sono pronti a fare del loro meglio in sella alla loro EBR.
Aaron Yates: “è stata una buona giornata, con un paio di sessioni corse sull’asciutto che ci sono state davvero utili. Ho fatto qualche progresso con le sospensioni e adesso la mia EBR 1190 RX sterza ancora più facilmente. Non ho guidato sul bagnato e se domani dovesse piovere vedremo come comportarci. Tutti stanno lavorando sodo e stiamo cercando di ottenere il massimo dalle nostre moto. Continuiamo a lavorare e fare del nostro meglio.”
Geoff May: “Abbiamo avuto qualche problema nell’ultima sessione ma abbiamo replicato il tempo delle FP3. Dobbiamo insistere sulla strada che abbiamo intrapreso perché inizio a trovare un buon feeling con la moto. Se domani dovessimo correre sull’asciutto sento di poter battagliare e lottare per la top 20. Vorrei che avessimo avuto venerdì il setting che abbiamo oggi, perché avrei davvero putto giocarmi la zona punti. Dobbiamo correre una gara tutta in rimonta e sento che le cose possono solo migliorare.”
