MotorLand Aragon in Spain is the venue for the opening European race of this year’s World Superbike Championship and it’s another totally new track for Team Hero EBR.
The plan today was to continue with the parts that we tested earlier in the week, whilst learning the track and finding the base setting for the EBR 1190RX.
Near perfect weather meant that both riders were able to do a lot of laps and this data will be valuable in the final free practice session tomorrow.
Aaron was slightly faster in the sessions today but both he and Geoff are aiming for a spot in the Tissot-Superpole and are confident that the EBR 1190RX could be part of the grid deciding session which will take place at 1500 local time tomorrow.
Aaron Yates 25th position: “I am happy with the progress that we made in today’s sessions. There was a big gap since Phillip Island and we have been working hard. I feel more comfortable on the bike and am happy to be back racing. Of course we still have a lot of work to do but we are moving in the right direction and we are all confident that over the coming races we will see big improvements, starting I hope tomorrow.”
Geoff May – 27th position: “I will be pushing hard to make the Superpole tomorrow but for sure that’s the aim. We will find some direction tomorrow and I am sure that we can improve tomorrow and again in the race. The track is great and I like riding it. The whole team and all my mechanics are working hard so thanks to them. We will get there.”
Il Team Hero EBR continua con lo sviluppo della moto nella giornata di Apertura ad Aragon
Il MotorLand di Aragon (Spagna) sarà il teatro della prima gara Europea del World Superbike Championship: si tratta di un tracciato completamente nuovo per i piloti del Team Hero EBR
Il piano per questa prima giornata di test è stata quella di continuare il lavoro di test cominciato lunedì e martedì di questa settimana sul circuito di Alcarras, sempre in Spagna, e nel mentre, imparare il tracciato e trovare un buon setting da cui cominciare lo sviluppo della EBR 1190RX.
Le condizioni meteo pressoché perfette, hanno permesso ad entrambi i piloti di completare molti giri e raccogliere dati decisivi allo sviluppo della moto.
Aaron è stato leggermente più veloce nella sessione odierna ma sia lui che Geoff hanno ambiscono ad entrare nella Tissot-Superpole e sono fiduciosi che la propria EBR 1190RX potrà entrare nella decisiva sessione di qualifiche che prenderà il via domani alle 15:00, ora locale.
Aaron Yates – 25th posizione: “Sono felice dei progressi che abbiamo fatto nella sessione di oggi. È passato molto tempo dalla gara di Phillip Island e abbiamo dovuto lavorare sodo. Ho trovato un feeling decisamente migliore con la moto e sono felice di essere tornato a correre dopo un periodo così lungo. Di sicuro, abbiamo ancora molto lavoro da fare ma sono certo che ci stiamo muovendo nella giusta direzione e sono fiducioso che durante il week end di gara continueremo a migliorarci; a cominciare da domani.”
Geoff May – 27th posizione: “Sto lavorando sodo e di sicuro il mio obiettivo è quello di puntare ad entrare in Superpole. Sono certo che troveremo una buona direzione da seguire domani e sono sicuro che troveremo il modo di migliorarci ancora. Il circuito è meraviglioso e mi piacere davvero poter guidare qui. L’intera squadra e tutti i miei meccanici stanno lavorando davvero duro e li ringrazio per tutti il loro sostegno.”
