Suriano Suzuki’s Alex Baldolini has qualified in a provisional 14th position on the grid ahead of Sunday’s first ever World Supersport race in Turkey after tyre chatter prevented the Italian from improving.
Baldolini and his Suriano Suzuki team have certainly been working well since being reunited at Donington, and with no threat of rain tomorrow, there is no reason that an improvement can’t be made.
Despite the problems, Alex is less than 3 tenths of a second from the top ten which is encouraging.
Alex Baldolini – 14th on the provisional grid: “Things started well but we have chatter problems with the new tyre that Pirelli has brought to this track. We must use the old tyre which works well but unfortunately it is only lasting a couple of laps. So far we haven’t found a solution but we will keep working hard and try to see what we can do tomorrow.”
Unlike a number of riders in the World Supersport championship, the Intercity Park circuit is a familiar place for Alex with him having raced there in his GP days.
Final qualifying is scheduled to take place tomorrow afternoon at the circuit on the outskirts of Istanbul.
