The Russian round of the World Supersport championship was cancelled earlier today after an accident on the opening lap of the race.
The incident which claimed the life of Italian Andrea Antonelli at the Moscow Raceway has shocked the World Superbike paddock and Matt Davies, who was competing in the race issued the following statement a short time ago.
Matt Davies – “I am shocked and saddened to hear about Andrea. Me, everyone connected with Matt Davies Racing and PTR Honda wish to extend our deepest condolences to Andrea’s family, his friends and to all in Team Go Eleven after this tragic loss.”
After the accident all on-track sporting activity was cancelled as a mark of respect.
