The second World Supersport race of 2014 was held at sunny Motorland Aragon earlier today with Italian Fabio Menghi claiming his second points scoring finish in as many races with a determined fight from 16th on the grid.
Menghi, riding his VFT Racing Team Yamaha fought valiantly throughout the 15 lap encounter, as he battled his way from start to finish eventually finishing in 15th after a race long fight for 8th that unfortunately saw him pushed off the track on the penultimate lap.
Fabio Menghi – 15th: “I’m not so happy with final result. The position is not what we deserved. I think we could have been in the top ten but some of the other riders are a little stupid in the way that they ride and this cost us a better result. I like to fight, this is part of racing but today I was pushed out of the track. We will be stronger in Assen.”
Today’s result means that the Menghi sits in equal 13th place overall in the World Supersport Championship after the opening two races.
Round three is scheduled to take place in the Netherlands at the iconic Assen circuit in a fortnight.
Menghi aggiunge altri punti ad Aragon
La seconda gara della stagione 2014 si e’disputata sul circuito Motorland Aragon con ottime condizioni meteo. Fabio Menghi ha raccolto altri punti dopo una bella lotta dopo essere scattato dalla 16esima posizione in griglia di partenza.
Menghi, in sella alla sua Yamaha del VFT Racing Team ha lottato senza risparmiarsi durante i 15 giri della gara. Fabio ha conlcuso la gara in 15esima posizione, dopo aver combattuto tutta la gara in un folto gruppo per l’ottava posizione, dove sfortunamente nel corso del penultimo giro un avversario ha spinto il pilota romganolo fuori pista facendoli perdere parecchio tempo e posizioni.
Fabio Menghi – 15: “non sono del tutto soddisfatto con il risultato. Non e’ sicuramente la posizione che meritavamo. Credo che avremmo potuto concludere nella top ten ma ci sono piloti che a volte sono un po’ troppo aggressivi e questo oggi ci ha privato di un risultato migliore. Mi piace lottare in gruppo, fa parte delle gara, ma oggi mi hanno spinto fuori pista. Saremo piu’ forti ad Assen”
Con il risultato di oggi lascia Menghi in 13esima posizione, la stessa che occupava dopo la gara inaugruale in Australia.
Il prossimo Round si terra’ in Olanda sul circuito di Assen tra due settimane.
