PTR Honda’s Matt Davies produced his best qualifying performance of the year with a fighting ride to 19th position in final qualifying today.
After a small technical problem yesterday cut short his track time, the fast Aussie was in determined mood today, and with the sun shining moved easily into the top half of the grid within the first few laps.
The experienced PTR Honda team, sent Matt back out onto the track with a little over two minutes of the session remaining but Matt was unable to better his time and will therefore start tomorrows 4th round of the World Supersport championship from a very credible 19th position.
With a mixed weather forecast tomorrow, Matt and the team are confident that the former European Junior Champion can replicate his performance of 12 months ago when he finished an impressive 9th in the UEM Superstock 600cc championship race.
