Alex Schacht had an up and down weekend at Assen for the 3rd round of the World Supersport championship yesterday.
Initially running as high as 13th in the damp conditions on Friday, Alex was unable to match that placing in final qualifying which was held in the dry.
From the start, the young Dane found himself mid pack, which is where he would stay after a race long duel with local wildacrd rider Kevin Van Leuven and PTR Honda’s Nacho Calero Perez, who he held off to the flag.
Having been confident of a points finish, Alex was obviously disappointed to finish yesterday’s race in 19th position, but both he and the team can be satisfied with the progress made overall during the weekend.
Alex Schacht – Racing Team Toth: “The race was another learning experience, for me. I Got locked up in the start, but had a good fight with some of the PTR guys. I wanted to score points, but the Supersport series is tough. It’s a learning curve and we are improving every round. A big thanks to the team for a great effort, the bike was perfect in the race.”
Race Result:
1st: Sam Lowes – Yakhnich Motorsport
2nd: Kenan Sofuoglu – MAHI Kawasaki
3rd: Fabien Foret – MAHI Kawasaki
19th: Alex Schacht – Racing Team Toth
