The Hungarian H-Moto team, the only two rider BMW squad in this year’s FIM Superstock 1000cc Cup, were unlucky not to score their first points of 2014 with rider Robert Muresan crashing out of 11th position in today’s opening round at MotorLand Aragon, Spain on the final lap.
The team’s other retired Riccardo Cecchini retired on lap 8 after showing good speed in the early stages.
As the lights went out both riders got away well with both riders just outside of the top ten.
For Cecchini, who was racing a 1000cc machine for the first time, it was a hard race as he came to terms with racing the larger machine and unfortunate that he had to retire.
Muresan, who now rides for the H-Moto team full time, after a couple of wildcard races last year, was also impressive, looking as though he was racing his way to a career best 11th place finish within the category before crashing out with half a lap remaining.
Despite the double non-finish today, the team were full of praise for both riders efforts throughout the weekend.
Looking ahead to round two at Assen in a fortnight the team are right to be confident of improving these results further and as the season progresses around Europe who knows what can be achieved.
