Fabio Menghi ended the opening day in 17th overall after two hot and humid Free Practice in Sepang, Malaysia.
After the disappointment of Donington Park a fortnight ago, Fabio Menghi and the VFT Racing team arrived in Malaysia and the Sepang International Circuit ready to fight hard for a solid result that would see them adding to the consistent run of point scoring finishes that graced them in the opening races.
Fabio completed 22 laps in a longer than usual 75 minute morning Free Practice before once again focusing on race set-up, which given the weather in Malaysia and the high track temperatures will be vital on Sunday.
In the afternoon session only a handful of riders were able to improve as the conditions prevented any faster times but nevertheless, Menghi and the VFT Racing team are satisfied and looking ahead to tomorrow’s qualifying session.
Fabio Menghi: “We have made a good start here. The first session was longer so that helped us with set-up on the bike because I have never been here before. Of course we are expecting to be faster in each session but step by step we will work to be ready for qualifying tomorrow. We have already changed a lot from the morning and we will look over the data from the afternoon and make more improvements overnight.”
Menghi guarda avanti per la qualificazione in Malesia
Fabio Menghi ha concluso al 17° posto generale la giornata di apertura a Sepang, in Malesia, dopo due turni di prove libere calde e umide.
Dopo la delusione di Donington Park due settimane fa, Fabio Menghi e il team VFT Racing sono arrivati in Malesia al Circuito Internazionale di Sepang pronti a lottare duramente per un importante risultato li vedrebbe aggiungere punti a quelli già ottenuti nelle prime gare dell’anno.
Fabio ha completato 22 giri nella sessione di prove libere del mattino più lunga del solito (75 minuti), prima di focalizzarsi ancora una volta sul set up da gara, che sarà fondamentale domenica visti il clima della Malesia e le alte temperature della pista.
Nella sessione pomeridiana solo una manciata di piloti sono stati in grado di migliorare poichè le condizioni hanno impedito di realizzare giri più veloci ma, nonostante questo, Menghi e il team VFT Racing sono soddisfatti e guardano avanti alla sessione di qualifiche di domani.
Fabio Menghi: “Abbiamo iniziato bene qui. La prima sessione è stata più lunga e questo ci ha aiutato con il set-up della moto perché non sono mai stato qui prima. Naturalmente ci aspettiamo di essere più veloci sessione dopo sessione ma passo dopo passo lavoreremo per essere pronti per le qualifiche di domani. Abbiamo già cambiato molto dalla mattina e analizzeremo i dati dal pomeriggio per apportare dei miglioramenti tra oggi e domani”.
