Team Hero EBR secured their best result since arriving in the World Superbike championship with Aaron Yates claiming 17th in race one at Donington Park earlier today.
The weekend wasn’t without incident, as an ongoing technical issue prevented Geoff May from starting either race.
In race one, Aaron brought the EBR 1190RX home in 17th position after getting the better of Imre Toth and Sheridan Morais in the closing stages.
Race two saw slightly warmer conditions and once again an encouraging performance by Aaron in the early stages as he was able to circulate at the same pace as a number of riders. He was however unable to finish the race after falling on lap 11, thankfully without injury to himself or too much damage to the bike.
The team will now focus on the first ever World Superbike event at Sepang in Malaysia in a fortnight with the hope of continuing the progress made at Donington Park.
Giulio Bardi – Team Manager: “All in all I can say is that I am satisfied about this racing weekend because we made a good improvement with the bike and this is the most important target for us right now. In a fortnight we will race in Malaysia and I am sure that we can make a further step forward with both our riders.”
Geoff May: “I am sorry I couldn’t take part in the races. It is not so easy to sit and watch the other riders on track. Anyway I know the team is working hard with my bike and all I want to do now is focus on the next race in Sepang.”
Aaron Yates: “We did a great job during throughout weekend. I felt the bike improving after every session and I think this is what really matters at this stage. I am sorry for the crash in race 2 because I wanted fight till the end but the 17th in the first race is encouraging.”
MIGLIOR RISULTATO STAGIONALE PER IL TEAM HERO EBR A DONINGTON
Il Team Hero EBR ottiene il miglior risultato dal proprio ingresso al World Superbike Championship, grazie al 17° posto ottenuto da Aaron Yates in gara 1 a Donington Park questa mattina. Purtroppo il fine settimana non si è svolto senza intoppi, in quanto un problema tecnico all moto di Geoff May ha impedito al piota americano di prendere parte ad entrambe le gare.
In gara uno Aaron ha portato la sua EBR 1190RX in 17° posizione, dopo aver avuto la meglio su Imre Toth e Sheridan Morais negli ultimi passaggi.
Gara due ha visto un leggero miglioramento nelle condizioni climatiche e, ancora una volta, si è potuto assistere ad un incoraggiante performance di Aaron Yates che ha girato nei primi passaggi con lo stesso passo di alcuni piloti che lo precedevano. Sfortunatamente, Aaron non ha potuto terminare la corsa a causa di una caduta, per fortuna senza troppi danni per il pilota e per la moto, avvenuta durante il giro numero 11
Il Team è pronto per la prima trasferta in Malesia del Mondiale Superbike, che si correrà a Sepang tra due settimane, con la speranza di continuare i progressi fatti a Donington Park.
Giulio Bardi – Team Manager: “Tutto sommato mi ritengo soddisfatto da questo weekend di gara, perché siamo riusciti a compiere diversi passi in avanti con la moto e questo, al momento, è il nostro obiettivo principale. Tra quindici giorni saremo in Malesia e sono certo di riuscire a fare un ulteriore step con entrambi i piloti.”
Geoff May: “Mi spiace di non aver potuto prendere parte alle gare: non è semplice stare seduto e guardare gli altri correre. Ad ogni modo, so che il team sta lavorando sodo sulla moto e tutto ciò che voglio e restare concentrato sulla prossima gara a Sepang.”
Aaron Yates: “Abbiamo fatto un bel lavoro questo weekend. Ho sentito la moto migliorare ad ogni sessione e penso che adesso è ciò che conta. Sono dispiaciuto per la caduta in gara 2 perché volevo lottare fino alla fine, ma il 17° posto in gara 1 è stato davvero incoraggiante.”
